624Squadron.com is dedicated to the heroes of 624(SD) squadron. The aim is to keep memories alive through official documents, photographs and most importantly the stories told by the men that served in this most secret squadron.
It is also in memory of Ron McKeon ,who created the original website 624squadron.org and gathered much of the information reproduced here.
Ron achieved so much for 624 Squadron and after years of hard work ,and 68 years after disbandment, a dedication of a Memorial Plaque to 624 (SD) Squadron RAF in the Allied Special Forces Memorial Grove at the National Museum Arboretum at Alrewas in Staffordshire took place at 12.30pm on Saturday 29th September 2012.
Ron is sadly no longer with us but through this website his years of hard work and dedication will live on.
In Ron's words " I hope that as time goes by the story of 624 Squadron will become known to many in the world, a world that may not have known the freedom it does now, had it not have been for the dedicated men of 624 Squadron R.A.F.
In acknowledgement of their gallantry I would like to thank them for their services, commitment and memories".
I in turn acknowledge the huge contribution Ron made to the memory of these brave men and hope to continue that here.
